Monaco 2014 was the first arena introduced to the game and is based on the real-life city-state of Monaco in the French Rivera. The arena is set on the Rock of Monaco, part of Monaco City, one of the four quarters of the city.

Features

Monaco features several interactive elements: a crane that can be controlled in the construction area; cannons that can be interacted with at various points around the map, most of which fire outside the map, except for the one in the Royal Plaza area, which targets a building; an elevator where cashout stations and vaults can spawn, making it harder for attackers to steal them; and controllable walls in the Royal Plaza area that can be toggled on and off using nearby buttons, making it easier for defenders to hold the area.

Duck and Cover

The Duck and Cover variant features the Cathedral being crashed into by a giant mascot duck, flattening the area and creating more open space.

Strategy

In the Duck and Cover variant, cashout stations will spawn in the middle of the open area at the Cathedral, making it harder for the attacking team to secure the cashout. This is because the defending team often holds the high ground on the roof above the open space.

To overcome this, attackers can utilize defensive gadgets or specializations such as the Dome Shield, Barricade, or Goo Grenade. These tools can help secure the steal or force the defending team to drop down from the roof to contest the cashout directly.

Suspended Structure

The Suspended Structure is a floating platform located above the arenas, accessible only by zipline. Cashout stations consistently spawn on this elevated platform, making it a challenging location for attackers to reach and steal from.

This structure appears above Royal Plaza, Forest, Pocket Park, and Cliffside.

At Pocket Park, the structure can be easily accessed from the rooftops of the residential district, giving attackers a more direct route to reach and steal the cashout stations.

Strategy

In the Suspended Structures arena variant, defending teams often destroy the ziplines leading to the upper platform to prevent attackers from reaching the cashout stations. When this happens, attackers have two main options: destroy the platform or use mobility tools to reach it.

The platform can be brought down by destroying two adjacent support points located at the top of the structure. This can be done using explosives such as explosive canisters, RPGs, Thermal Bores, and similar tools.

Alternatively, attackers can utilize mobility gear like Ziplines, Jump Pads, or the Grappling Hook to ascend and confront the defending team directly, without collapsing the platform.

Point of Interest

Name Description
Cathedral The cathedral, based on the Cathedral of Our Lady Immaculate, is the central focal point of the arena. The bottom floor has four spiral staircases in each corner and pews throughout in the middle. The second floor has access to windows facing every direction. On the north and south ends of the cathedral are ziplines allowing for access to the roof. In the Duck and Cover arena variant, the cathedral is removed and replaced with rubble.
Construction The construction yard is located directly east of the cathedral, with a clearing between the two locations. The building has five stories, with access determined by a single staircase on the far east of the yard. A crane in the middle of the site provides a vantage point over a large portion of the arena.
Royal Plaza The courtyard is the most open space in the arena, with long sightlines looking back towards the buildings in the shopping district. The courtyard is surrounded on the west by an LCD screen preventing contestants from exiting the arena. There are multiple objects providing cover on the approach to the center of the courtyard, from a generator, to waist high walls contestants can crouch behind. It also has a wide variety of interactable objects, such as cannons, and raisable cover that can cover the center and flanks of the plaza. This courtyard is based on the Place du Palais.
Villa The villas are a handful of large buildings with access from the street. An alley runs behind these buildings below ground level and includes a vertical zipline for direct access to the roof. A portion of the alley runs underneath the adjacent road and leads to the park.
Shopping District The shopping district makes up a large part of the arena, and has various multi-story buildings and alleyways.
Hotels This area features a few large buildings overlooking the cliffside, the royal plaza and the shopping district.
Cliffside The cliffside is the southwestern section of the arena. The entire edge of the arena in this section is lined with guardrails to keep contestants inside. The western portion contains a small garden, while the eastern portion has a small path leading through a rock tunnel on the side of the cliff.
Forest This section covers the entire northern edge of the arena. It is a wooded area with small trees and foliage with a few small buildings. The west edge of the forest has a small staircase that leads directly to the royal plaza. This section of the arena sits lower than ground-level, so the entire southern border has a large concrete wall separating it from the adjacent road, and there are various staircases and ladders to traverse up to the road.
Residential District The residential district borders the shopping district, and has a handful of large houses for contestants to fight in.
Pocket Park This area is a small park next to the residential district on the east border of the arena. It features a fountain and a few shipping containers to provide cover.
Park The gardens on the south of Monaco are a place of relative tranquility compared to the rest of the arena containing multiple statues, gardens, and parks. This area is based on the St Martin Gardens and features 3D scanned assets of real life objects.
