Glitch Barrels are arena carriables that, upon impact, create glitch blasts that prevent contestants from using their abilities and temporarily turn off any deployed gadgets in the area.

Overview

Like any barrel, Glitch Barrels are placed at random locations picked from a large set of fixed barrel locations specific to the arena. They can also be obtained from balloons. Contestants can pick up the barrel and carry it around the arena or throw it somewhere.

Effects

The barrel will immediately explode when it is hit, whether it is shot, thrown or hit while holding it.

The barrel explosion provides the same effects as Glitch Grenade explosions, but the explosion itself is smaller in size

Once exploded, it creates an explosion that glitches nearby contestants and disables their specializations and gadgets temporarily for 5 seconds. Additionally, deployed gadgets (such as Guardian Turret and Dome Shield) that are caught in the explosion are also disabled for the same perioud. Every contestant in the explosion is glitched no matter which team threw the barrel.

Properties

Barrel

Destructible — Immediately destroyed upon receiving enough damage, resulting a glitch explosion to apear on it's place.

Damaging — Hitting an ememy contestant directly with the barrel deals 50 damage.

Trigger on Impact — Can fly for any amount of time and triggers when the projectile collides with a surface or contestant. For the Glitch Barrel, this happens at the first impact, unless it was dropped by a contestant holding it.

Reshapeable — Can be reshaped by the Data Reshaper into a different arena carriable by contestants.

Not Interceptible — Cannot be removed by the APS Turret.

No Bounce — Explodes immediately upon hitting anything (except after being dropped by a contestant).

Explosion

Explosive — Applies its glitch in an area of effect that can be intercepted by structures and shields.

Glitching — Glitches affected contestants, making them unable to use gadgets and obfuscating their HUD Does not interrupt processes such as stealing.

Disabling — Disables glitchable gadgets.

Friendly Fire — Can glitch the user, and their teammates.

Not Damaging — Contestant in the explosion doesn't receive any damage

Not Immobilizing — Does not stop affected contestants from moving.

No Structure Damage — Cannot be used to damage structures.

Strategy

• The Glitch Barrel can be used to glitch enemy emplacements when neither a Light or Medium with glitch utility are present.
• The Glitch Barrel is a direct counter to the APS Turret, as thrown barrels are not affected by APS area denial.
• The Glitch Barrel is a greater counter to Dome Shields and Mesh Shields, then Glitch Grenade, as thrown barrel won't bounce before explosion and will trigger immediately.
• The area of effect of the Glitch Barrel is not large, so it is possible to miss one or multiple traps when thrown into an area with traps.
• Glitch explosion can be blocked by surfaces.
• After exploding the balloon with Glitch barrels, if contestant want to use them later, they have to catch barrels before they hit the ground. Otherwise they will explode upon landing from high enough distance. But are putting themselfs at risk of being glitched by the rest of the falling barrels.
• When throwing The Glitch Barrel contestants should remember that everyone and everything can be hit by the glitch explosion, including them, their teammates and their deployed gadgets.
