The Hover Pad is a Medium class placeable gadget that creates platform hovering in mid-air.


Usage

The Hover Pad can be selected as one of three gadgets of any Medium build loadout.

While the gadget is held, an indicator will show a potential placement of the Hover Pad as a blue hologram in front of the user. If the hologram is red, the gadget will not fit in the target location. Using the primary trigger, the placement can be confirmed to deploy the gadget. It can be deployed only in the air.

The gadget can also be retrieved to restore a charge, by interacting with it for a few moments while looking at it from up close.

Stats

Effects

The pad can be pushed and moved in the air by explosives, Shockwaves, and most noticeably Powder Canisters.

Properties

Gadget

Placeable — Can be placed anywhere in the air, but cannot attach to things. It will not attach directly to ceilings despite its indicator being blue.

Single Charge — Can be placed once, its cooldown will not recharge til the hover pad is retrieved or destroyed.

Retrievable — Can be picked up by interacting with the pad, refunding about half a cooldown.

Remote Controlled — Can be commanded to self destruct from any distance, refunding about half a cooldown.

Pad

Solid — Has its own collision, meaning it blocks bullets, contestants can stand on it, and other gadgets can be attached to it.

Destructible — Can be destroyed if its health is fully depleted, such as through hits from bullets or explosions.

Strengths

Weaknesses

  • The pad will instantly break if a Cashout Station is dropped onto it, no matter how short the fall.
  • If any Arena Carriables are dropped onto the pad, it will deal damage to the pad.

Tactics

  • If the Hover Pad is broken by an explosion, any attached gadget (that isn't also broken in the explosion) will be sent flying in the opposite direction.
  • If there is a sniper above you while stealing a Cashout Station, placing the pad above you like a vertical shield is an effective strategy.

Item Mastery

Item mastery XP for the Hover Pad can be earned by deploying it.

Each time a certain XP threshold is reached, the item levels up. This does not improve the item, but rewards a unique item customization.
