The Shockwave is a Medium class specialization that creates orbs which detonate on impact, pushing players and objects away from the blast with force. These orbs detach mines and turrets, and disrupt and displace opponents.

Usage

The Shockwave can be selected as the specialization gadget of any Medium build loadout.

When the Specialization key is tapped, the user will summon a Shockwave in their left hand and then proceed to launch it forwards at where their crosshair is placed.

When the Specialization key is held, the user will still summon a Shockwave, however will continue holding it until releasing the Specialization key or being interrupted. Holding the Specialization key does not increase the radius or the strength of the Shockwave, however releasing a held Shockwave is slightly faster than summoning then launching a Shockwave.

Effects

The Shockwave projectile will explode on impact of any surface, and when it does it will release an equal amount of force from the point of impact within it's entire radius, knocking away the user, opponents, Arena Carriables, the Cashout Station, and detach Sticky Gadgets before also knocking them away. The Shockwave will ignore teammates.

The Shockwave will also do minor amounts of environmental damage, enough to break glass and windows.

The Shockwave also disrupts opponents, forcing them to drop any Arena Carriables they were holding, and knock them off Ziplines and Ladders. The Shockwave does not directly interrupt opponents from held interactions such as revivng and stealing Cashout Stations; however, the knockback from the Shockwave will often create enough distance between opponents and the object they are interacting that it still works to interrupt the interaction.

Properties

Specialization

Ranged — Strikes targets by aiming and firing at them from a distance.

Stable Accuracy — Keeps a stable accuracy, even while moving and going airborne.

Multiple Charges — Can be used 2 times. When a charge is used, it automatically recharges over the cooldown time.

No Disarm — Does not stop the user from using their other items while the gadget is active.

Orb

Projectile — Has a travel time. Is not affected by gravity.

Trigger on Impact — Can fly for any amount of time and triggers when the projectile collides with a surface or contestant.

Minor Structure Damage — Deals minor structural damage, enough to break windows and glass.

Not Damaging — Hitting a contestant directly with the projectile does not deal damage, only pushes them.

No Friendly Fire — Can affect user, but not their teammates.

Guide

Strengths

  • The Shockwave gives the medium much higher mobility, allowing users to more easily rollout or escape danger.
  • The Shockwave's knockback can be used for a variety of purposes, such as knocking away opponents stealing a cashout or off a cliff, knocking a cash box out of an opponent's hand, or knocking a teammate's statue towards the user.

Weaknesses

  • Unlike other Medium specializations, the Shockwave does not provide much teamwide utility like the Dematerializer or the Healing Beam.
  • The Shockwave struggles indoors as low ceilings and walls limit the mobility of Shockwave users.

Tactics

  • Launch a Shockwave right before stepping on a Jump Pad or Triangle Pad to combine the push force of both and achieve greater vertical height.
  • Landing a Shockwave so that it cancels an opponent's horizontal velocity will knock up opponents. This tactic is called juggling and can be used to close the distance between the Shockwave user and their opponents, which is especially useful for melee weapons such as the Riot Shield.

Item Mastery

Item mastery XP for the Shockwave can be earned by actively using it.
