Interactable Buttons are, as the name suggests, interactable objects found scattered around the arenas, typically in proximity to relevant structures. They affect the arena environment after activation, such as raising or lowering bridges, barricades and open-air elevator platforms.

Overview

Interactable buttons are always present in the same specific spots on any given arena that has them. When the button is interacted with, it goes on cooldown for 1 second, during which it can't be used.

Other Activation Methods

Contestants can activate buttons in numerous other ways other than interacting with them directly. Any damage that can hit the button directly (like Quick Melee, gun shots, and melee weapon hits) or an explosion will activate it.

Arena Carriables

Buttons can be activated by throwing Arena Carriables, but only if their initial point of contact is the button. Some carriables can also trigger buttons with their explosion damage. Notable exceptions are listed below.

Equipment

Some Gadgets and Specializations activate buttons either by direct impact or through their explosions. Equipment that doesn't have the ability to deal damage in either of these ways will not activate any buttons.

Tactics

  • Beyond the obvious benefits of providing cover and traversal options, activating bridges and barricades with buttons can open up potential for combination with other gadgets such as goo grenades
  • Activating bridges can be used to precisely angle jump pads for arena traversal, as well as disrupting movement for other contestants
  • Any Oil Barrel that is ignited from being thrown can be used to trigger a delayed reactivation of a button after the initial impact
  • Gadgets such as the C4 or Breach Charge can be used to remotely activate buttons, whether for defensive or offensive purposes
